Total experience: 32 Years’ experience covering Areas of Digital Economy, Cyber Security, data protection and Emerging Technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, etc. I have done a significant number of projects, published extensively, done teaching, training, research in these Areas.

EDUCATION:
PhD in Information Systems from Delhi University

PGDM (Equivalent to MBA), B.E. (Computer Science)

Post-graduate Diploma in Cyber Law & Cyber Forensics from National Law School of India University, Bangalore which covered Indian Law and Legal Systems, Law of Cyber Crimes in India, Cyber Crimes and the Society, Laws of Cyber space, etc. In-depth study on “Data Protection on Cyber space-a comparative analysis of laws and regulations across Nations”. 

Program on Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy with MIT SLOAN Executive Education, US (2022)

Chevening Fellowship at SAID Business School, University of Oxford, UK on Cyber Security (2013), The Chevening Fellowship is a flagship programme of the Foreign & Commonwealth office (FCO), Government programme of the United Kingdom and is given to very few meritorious professionals from different fields. My focus area was building Cyber Security in Government sector.

Professor at Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon which is one of the Top Business Schools in India.  

Have been Dean-Strategic Initiatives where I spearheaded the foundation/ design of the Online PGDM program, led ERP deployment, and significantly expanded the global collaborations in UK and US. 

Empanelled as a Lead Expert on strategic planning, policy-making in e-governance and cyber security with Government of India. 

At MDI, Gurgaon Chair for the Center for Digital Economy and Cyber Security which conducts capacity building in emerging technologies such as AI, blockchain, IoT, etc and anchors Government of India projects.

Belong to the first batch of Lady Officers in Indian Air Force, Served Indian Air Force as a Short Service Commission Officer and got special Training on Air Defence Ground Environment System (ADGES) and Communication Systems.

I summarize below 18 projects done by me at MDI Gurgaon. These projects demonstrate an in-depth understanding of ethical, legal, regulatory, social and governance issues of artificial intelligence and related digital technologies, at national and/or international level and a Proven ability to draft clearly and concisely and to produce high quality policy-oriented analysis and synthesis on a consistent basis.

I.Principal Investigator on a Project with the National Secretariat for Cyber Security, Prime Minister’s Office, Government of India (2022-2024). II.    Sponsored Research Projects with Ministry of Communication and IT (MeitY)

Principal Investigator, “Information Security Assurance Framework for e-governance projects” of Government of India (2013-2016)  with Ministry of Communication and IT (MoCIT) and National Institute of Standards  and Technology (NIST), US.
Successfully  completed  the  project  "To  deliver  the  information  security  assurance  framework  with implementation and assessment aids for users implementing e-Governance projects" for Ministry of Communication and IT. This is a project of National and Strategic importance as the Security Assurance Framework is applicable to each Department and Ministry in Centre and State under the IT Act. 

III.    Principal Investigator, Project to study Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) by NIST, US and suggest an appropriate information security assurance framework for applying it with Government of India with Ministry of Communication and IT (MoCIT) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), US.
The objective of the project is to develop an information security assurance framework for the Government of India and is supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The initial exercise included the study of the United States’ Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) in collaboration with National Institute of Standards  and Technology, Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States (NIST) to suggest  an overarching framework of an overall security strategy that can be applied to bring information security standardization across various agencies of the Government of India and be suitably tailored to such Government agency’s mission and goals. 

IV.    Important Government of India Projects on Digitization and e-Governance
These projects give an excellent knowledge about the dynamics of governance of digital technologies in India, including policies, legislative and regulatory frameworks, institutional mechanisms, organizational structures and processes, and initiatives by different stakeholders in this field
V.    Membership of Project Review and Steering Committees of Central Government. 


VI.    Empaneled as “Lead Expert” on Cyber Security and  e-Governance with National e-Governance Division  (NeGD), Ministry of Communication and IT, Government of India.

VII.    Advisor on the project to develop the Cybersecurity capability maturity model for National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Center (NCIIPC), Government of India in collaboration with IIT Kanpur. 
This is a project of National Significance and I am an Advisor and an Expert on the project.
VIII.    Collaborative work on “Transborder Data Flows Comparing the EU-India Approaches and a Possible Cooperation Framework on Data Protection” with Researchers in Tallinn University , Estonia.

IX.    Consultation visits to University of Maryland, US for collaborative work on Information Security Framework with Government of India where I involved with Researchers and Academicians in University of Mary land

XI.    With Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), GoI and Observer Research Foundation (ORF)
•    Part of the Indian delegation for UK-India Track 1.5 Cyber Dialogue at Chatham House in London  on Cyber Security and Policy Issues; The Track 1.5 process is designed to informally support ongoing governmental discussions around the UK-India Cyber Framework agreement and also connect industry, civil society and technical communities on both sides for sharing ideas and strategic collaborations.
•    Part of Indian delegation for EU-India Track 1.5 Cyber Dialogue, in New Delhi, India

XII.    Visited National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), USA three times during the duration of the Project (2010-2016) representing the Indian Government
Project discussions with the Cyber Security Assurance Framework (CSAF) and Federal Information Security Act (FISMA) Team, NIST, US; Visit to Federal Organizations which had implemented FISMA and interaction with their IT Team leading to the delivery of the Information Security Assurance Framework for Ministry of Communication and IT, Government of India

XIII.    Served on the Project Advisory Committee of Data Security Council of India (DSCI), NASSCOM on Cyber Security for multiple years.

XV.    Board Member, IFCI Venture Capital Funds Limited (wholly owned company of IFCI Limited) from 2018-2022: Board Member and Chairman of e-Governance and Cyber Security Committee of IFCI Venture Capital Funds Limited: As Chairman of the Committee, responsible for review of information security policy and Board decisions in the Area of e-Governance and Cyber Security
