Beyond Placement

At MDI, it is our belief that experiences of corporate leaders provide invaluable learning to the students of management. The Business Thought Leadership Series has been designed to serve as a forum for exchange of intellectually stimulating ideas between business heads and future managers through the lecture format. Such sessions see students getting a practical perspective on the theoretical concepts learnt in class with the industry stalwarts gaining fresher and newer ideas. Continuing with this tradition, MDI saw the most successful managers, leaders, and thinkers descend on campus during the previous academic year.

Apart from ‘Business Thought Leadership’ sessions we also have the Synapse series, apart from Workshops, Live Projects, and other corporate forums. The aim of the Synapse series is to have senior practicing managers share their functional expertise with students and provide them a practical view of the various functions of an organization. The series is conducted in a lecture format.

Workshops serve as customized avenues for organizations to interact with students. Simulation games, experiential exercises, and domain-specific training are some examples of the types of workshops that have been explored in the past.

Live Projects are an excellent opportunity for the students to assist managers in solving live business issues. These live projects could either be in the form of an independent project or a part of an ongoing project. For students, these projects are an opportunity to showcase their skills in the related areas in real business scenarios. For participating organizations, it is an opportunity to evaluate and leverage the caliber and intellectual capital of the students. At MDI, Live Projects are considered extremely serious assignments and hence each project is supervised by a faculty mentor who both guides the students doing the project and continually monitors the project’s progress. Our students have been appreciated in the past for their efforts in Live Projects at leading organizations such as ABN Amro, Bharti, Cadbury, Deloitte, CRISIL, HUL, McKinsey Consulting, Philips, ICRA, Motorola, Nestle, Nokia, Reckitt Benckiser, RPG, Apollo Tyres, Aditya Birla Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ranbaxy, etc.

Apart from the above, Delphique, the flagship research event of MDI has been a meeting ground for students and the industry for the last 14 years. Delphique strives to collaborate with various leading companies for knowledge partnership for different panels spanning all management verticals. Delphique provides a platform for the Knowledge Partner to highlight the upcoming trends in its industry to the students and give them an opportunity to work on a research project on a relevant topic.

Our Marketing Research Fair, Illumina, which is scheduled around Diwali (hence the name) offers organizations an opportunity to conduct extensive marketing research through the thousands of consumers who visit this fair annually. In the past, companies such as HUL, Pepsi, State Bank of India, the Aditya Birla Group, and Eureka Forbes have actively participated in this event and benefited from it.

We invite you to be a part of MDI through the various student initiatives described above to develop a mutually beneficial relationship with us.
