Accreditation from AACSB, USA

More global recognition. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), USA, accredits MDI Gurgaon in 2021. AACSB International is the world’s largest business education alliance. This accreditation means MDI Gurgaon has successfully undergone a rigorous review process conducted by peers in the business education community. MDI Gurgaon is now among less than 6 per cent of the world’s B-schools holding AACSB accreditation.

 
2021
Dual degree MoU signed with ESCP Europe

Another international collaboration. MDI Gurgaon signs a dual degree MoU with ESCP Europe in 2018. Through this collaboration, MDI students will spend the first year in India and the second year in one of the six campuses of ESCP Europe. At the end of their academic years, the students will be entitled to get dual degrees – MDI’s PGP-IB and the ESCP Masters in Management (MIM).

MoU signed with Richard Ivey School of Business, Canada

The year is 2012. MDI Gurgaon signs a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Richard Ivey School of Business, Canada. The collaboration is built on MDI’s commitment to case-based learning along with Ivey’s knowledge and prowess as the world’s largest producer of Asian-based cases. It has two components – case writing and teaching training, and case publishing.

 
2012
Accreditation from SAQS

After AMBA, the South Asian Quality Assurance System (SAQS) accredits MDI Gurgaon in 2006. The Institute further enhances its global image by introducing the Post Graduate Diploma in Management - International Business (PGDM-IB) in collaboration with the European School of Management (ESCP Europe). The year also saw the launch of the Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Public Policy and Management (PGDM-PPM) in view of public policy and governance gaining utmost importance.

 
2006
Accreditation from AMBA, UK

A red-letter year. The Association of MBAs (AMBA), UK, accredits MDI Gurgaon’s full-time Post Graduate Programmes. The Institute becomes the first Indian B-school to be internationally accredited. AMBA’s accreditation philosophy is centred on impact, employability and learning outcomes. This means MDI Gurgaon denotes the highest standard of achievement in postgraduate business education.

 
2005
PGDM-HRM and EFPM programmes introduced

The early years of a new century. Along with competent managers, organisations need human resource management professionals with well-rounded business perspective. To cater to this, MDI Gurgaon offers the Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Human Resource Management (PGDM-HRM) in 2004. In the same year, to meet the scholarly needs of working business executives, the non-residential Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EFPM) is introduced.

FPM and PGDM-BA programmes introduced

Who will develop outstanding scholars for careers in teaching and research in the 21st century? 1999. Close to the millennium year. MDI Gurgaon launches the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM). Also, there are working executives who have no prior exposure to formal management education. MDI Gurgaon provides a solution. The Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Business Administration (PGDM-BA) is launched.

AMP programme introduced

There is a need to move up the training activities at MDI Gurgaon to include policy-level programmes. The Advanced Management Programme (AMP) is introduced in 1996. The primary purpose is to spark debates and discussions among the participants of the Programmes. They get exposed to current analytical tools for assessing opportunities and risks in strategic planning and decision-making.

PGDM programme introduced

The 1990s. Time for MDI Gurgaon to start its flagship programme. The full-time residential Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is launched in 1994. PGDM continues to nurture budding professional managers who go on to hold responsible positions in the global environment.

PGDM-BM programme introduced

The 1980s. New B-schools are opening their doors. But are they developing leaders who will excel in the rapidly changing business environment? MDI Gurgaon comes up with the answer. It launches the Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Business Management, a full-time residential programme, in 1988. The programme has a legacy of nurturing agents of change.

MDI moves to its permanent campus in Gurugram

Another big year. MDI moves to its permanent campus located in the heart of what is today’s corporate hub of Gurugram. The lush green campus is spread over 35 acres. It provides the MDI community a unique creative atmosphere amidst industry action. State-of-the-art classrooms, IT infrastructure, hostels, library, and other facilities set amidst sylvan surroundings make for a conducive environment for studies. The campus is located just 12 km from the international airport in Delhi.

Development Banking Centre set up

These are the post-colonial years. South-South cooperation is bubbling. Development banking forms the cornerstone for the progress of newly independent nations. MDI is drawing the attention of Asian and African countries for its training programmes in this sector. 1977. MDI reorganises its development banking wing into the Development Banking Centre (DBC). Three years later, the Institute moves to its permanent campus in Gurgaon.

IFCI sets up Management Development Institute

The early 1970s. Management education in India is in its infancy. There is a need to instill professionalism in organisational management cadres. In comes Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI). It envisions grooming leaders in the financial sector. 1972! Management Development Institute (MDI) is born. It starts off by training managers and executives of development banks at its office in Delhi.
