Product and technology research has driven much of the growth in the manufacturing sector. Due to its complex nature and its ever-increasing importance in the modern economy, the service sector needs a lot more attention, investments and efforts on innovative theories, methods and solutions to fulfill its great promises. The science of studying services is evolving, and the call-to-action is being heard around the world. Many institutions have integrated or are beginning to integrate their studies with a service perspective. Service science, service operations, and logistics are becoming ever more complex and interdependent. They are playing an increasingly important role in today’s world economy. Information and communications technology provides cyber-infrastructure and platforms to achieve more efficient and productive services operations, while at the same time facilitating global communication and the development of global services. New types of service offerings are also emerging to meet the needs of customers and consumers. The Conference will feature a unique mix of academic, industrial, and transdiscilpinary topics, providing a forum for presentation and exchange of research results and practical experiences as well as education and curricula development. The Conference brings together researchers and practitioners to discuss issues, challenges and future directions, and share their research findings and experiences in related areas. The Conference also aims at bridging the perspectives of the researchers and the needs of the practitioners. Speakers at the Conference include many of the leading service sciences experts from both the academia and the service industries around the world.
To emphasize the theme of this conference, there will be special workshop on Service Design and Management to enhance the management of global services. In addition, a special track of the conference will be devoted to Managing Global Services.
Persons in business, government, and academia are invited to submit competitive papers, proposals for symposia, tutorials, and workshops on current topics in all areas of decision sciences. The technical program of the Conference will include invited talks, paper presentations, and panel discussions in research, industry and education tracks. The conference seeks original, unpublished research/case study papers reporting substantive new work in various aspects of Service Sciences. Awards will be given to the best papers in different categories.
