Dr.A.Sahay¸ Professor of Strategic Management¸ a hard core business executive turned an academician has been a champion of both the corporate and academic world. Starting his career as an academician¸ he turned to the corporate world early in life and wading through both public and private sectors¸ he made to the top to become the Chairman and Managing Director of Scooters India Limited¸ a company which was declared a mortuary case only to be given a ceremonial burial. The turnaround of Scooters India Limited¸ under his leadership¸ is considered a management miracle both by the practicing managers as well as academicians. In recognition of this¸ he was made the founder President of the Strategic Management Forum of India. As a mastermind in strategy¸ he was invited to serve on many Corporate Boards as well as those of the technical and management Institutions. He represents Govt. of India on Task force in companies like Nuclear Power Corporation Of India LTD¸ Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited¸ Power grid corporation of India Ltd¸ National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd¸ National Hydro Power Corporation Ltd¸etc
A mechanical engineer by basic degree¸ he acquired M.Sc(Engg.) and Ph.D.(foundry) from Technical University¸ Brno¸ Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic). Facing the unions early in career¸ he studied law specialising in labour laws. As a practicing manager¸ he studied management at University of Madras which was fortified with Advanced Management Course at Henley¸ the management college(U.K). In pursuit of his Green Management movement¸ he himself underwent Advance Lead Auditor Course on ISO 14000 : Environmental management Systems. Presently¸ he is on the Governing Council of International Sustainability Research Society headquatered in Hon Kong.
Awards & Honors:
He has been conferred with numerous management and technical awards¸ notably among those are Wisitex Foundation Award - Environment Chief Executive of the Year(2002)¸ International Greenland Society Award-Green Chief Executive(2001)¸ Indira Gandhi Environmental Award(1999)¸ Nehru Nature Award(1997)¸ Patent Master Award(1996). MDI Best Researcher of the year 2006.
